Founder Asger Gramkow and his wife Irene visited the company for a heartfelt celebration, bringing together employees to honor his legacy with speeches, gifts, and warm reunions
AGRAMKOW celebrates Asger Gramkow’s 90th birthday
On September 30th, Asger Gramkow, the founder of AGRAMKOW, turned 90 years old. To mark the occasion, he and his wife Irene visited the company he established back in 1977. The visit was celebrated with a festive gathering in the company canteen, where all employees from the Danish division came together to honor Asger and his significant contributions to AGRAMKOW’s history.
The celebration included speeches, gifts, and heartfelt reunions, creating an atmosphere of respect and gratitude for the man who laid the foundation for AGRAMKOW. CEO Søren Nielsen expressed the company’s pride with the following words:
“We are proud of our history at AGRAMKOW, and the story of you and how the company started is still part of our corporate presentation. You have truly left your mark on the company, on Sønderborg, and on the world map.”
Asger Gramkow sold the company in 1990, and since then, AGRAMKOW has undergone several changes in ownership. Most recently, in 2024, the company was acquired by the Scandinavian private equity firm Solix, which has ambitious plans to double the size of the business.
During his visit, Asger expressed his enthusiasm for the company’s technological advancements:
“When you see such advanced equipment here, it’s easy to understand why there’s such a unique company on Als that can do exactly this!”
His wife Irene shared a warm and humorous insight into Asger’s ongoing engagement:
“Asger is active from morning to evening. He goes to a meeting and says, ‘No, I don’t feel like it anymore.’ But when he comes home, he says, ‘I just couldn’t resist!’”
When asked whether he would be interested in hearing more about AGRAMKOW’s future plans, Asger responded with his characteristic curiosity:
“Yes, that would definitely be interesting!”
Asger Gramkow’s life’s work extends far beyond AGRAMKOW. For more than 70 years, he has been a driving force in Southern Jutland’s business community, and his entrepreneurial spirit remains strong. At 90, he continues to be active with new inventions and projects—most recently with climate adaptation solutions through HiddenDyke ApS, where he was recently awarded a new patent.
The celebration of Asger Gramkow was a beautiful reminder of the company’s roots and the entrepreneurial spirit that still lives on in the organization. It was a day that both employees and management will remember with pride and joy.
